Kumamoto castle

After earthquake in 2016.

Kumamoto, an area in Kyusyu island, suffered from a big earthquake in 2016. Most of buildings in the center of Kumamoto city recovered, but old buildings such as castles and shrines are still under re-construction. I visited Kumamoto castle which was built in 1604, but devastated by earthquake in 2016 and it will take 20 years to recover. Now we couldn't go into the buildings, so we just walked around the walls and watched buildings from distance, but I could feel the power of the earthquake.

Some walls are not recovered.

I also visited Aso shrine which was also destroyed by the earthquake. The building to pray for a god was totally destroyed, and now I couldn't see the building. They will rebuilt the building, but it will take a lot of time.
